Common Wheel Loader Tire Size

Finding the ideal tire for your loader can seem like a difficult process with the heavy equipment industry's countless alternatives. It also requires careful consideration of the workspace you'll be working on, the application, and the budget of the project.

The most common tire sizes for wheel loaders vary depending on the size and model, also including the bottom wheel rims of the loader. When ordering new tires, keep in mind a few important aspects, such as:

Tire Diameter: The tire diameter is the overall height of the tire when it is inflated and mounted on the wheel. This is usually measured in inches and is represented by the first number in the tire size.

Tire Width: The tire width is the distance across the tread of the tire when it is mounted on the wheel. This is also measured in inches and is represented by the second number in the tire size.

For example: The sizes 29.525, 26.525, 23.525, 20.525, 17.525, and 15.525 are commonly used for average wheel loaders. However, there are some circumstances in which particular sizes can be interchanged, such as sizes 23.5x25 and 20.5x25.

Rim Size: The rim size is the diameter of the wheel that the tire is designed to fit on. This is also measured in inches and is represented by the last number in the tire size.

For example: A common wheel loader tire size of 23.5-25-12 indicates a tire with a diameter of 23.5 inches, and a width of 25 inches, and is designed to fit on a 12-inch rim.

Seek your dealer's advice: If you're ever unsure about which tire is best for your equipment, it is important to seek the experts for advice. The dealer who sold you the wheel loader likely has all the information you require and is aware of your needs, and may even have some cheaper solutions.

Remember all pneumatic tire sizes are replaceable: Cat, Hitachi, Komatsu, JCB, JLG, Magni, and Genie.
